FAQs
What can I expect in session with you?
Sessions will typically involve 1-2 sessions of understanding your difficulties which we call the 'assessment'. This will involve asking you questions such as about your difficulties, when they began, how you cope, whether you have any suicidal thoughts and any questions that you may have for me. The next 2-3 sessions involve 'formulation' this is when we work together to understand the different bits that make up your problem and how you cope with it. Typically, in someone who is 'burnt out' what can maintain the problem is doing too much or taking on to many things (perhaps we worry we will be criticised or may criticise ourselves). In someone who is socially anxious, it may be the focus on attention is how your 'performing' or the thoughts in your head which in turn makes you more anxious. This is then followed by us, working together, to start to make the changes using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is a NICE guidelines recommended treatment for anxiety for difficulties such as Social Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (Worry), Phobias and so much more.
The goal isn’t to ‘fix’ you—you’re not broken. It’s to help you feel more in control, more grounded, and more like yourself again.
My clients often tell me they feel less alone and more understood in therapy. I bring validation, warmth, honesty, and compassion—especially when you need it most. And we go at your pace.
How often are the sessions?
Sessions can vary between once a week, fortnightly to once a month. This will be based on lost of factors such as cost and time but having large gaps between sessions, especially in the initial stages, can impact momentum and effect the outcome from therapy. Once you feel more confident in what you are doing (particularly outside of session) fortnightly or monthly gaps can work effectively.
How much do the sessions cost?
Sessions start from £60 (Telephone) for a 50- 60 minutes session. A Video session costs £70 and Face to Face sessions are £85. Payment for the session should be made at least 24 hours before the appointment via bank transfer.
How many sessions will I need?
Typically, anywhere between 6-20 sessions is what's recommended for common mental health difficulties using CBT. However, we are all different and many things can influence this such as how long you have struggled with your difficulty, whether there are multiple difficulties impacting you, motivation, time. I have also seen bereavements and relationship issues impact the course of therapy also.
What if your not the right therapist for me?
Sometimes it may be that I am not the right therapist for you or perhaps the therapy offered isn't the right fit. Thats ok. We can have a conversation about it and discuss what may be better suited and I would be more than happy to signpost you to somewhere that is better suited to meet your needs.
